Died: September 7, 2008 He led the 1966 Texas Western Miners to an NCAA Championship over the Kentucky Wildcats with the first all African-American starting lineup. This being his most prized accomplishment, also held the breaking of the college basketball racial barrier. He coached at Texas Western College, later named The University of Texas El Paso, from 1961 to 1999. |
